While creating my cartoon self, I learned how to do gradients, use the pen tool, the brush tool and different brushes on the program. I used the pen tool to create my hair, face, eyebrows and the eyes and shirt. For the mouth I used the brush tool to draw it free handedly. I chose the colours closest the original photo as I could. On my shirt in the before picture there are white smudges on it so I decided to use a blue and white gradient. With the pen tool i tried to arch my eyebrows as much as I could without making it look un realistic. The parts I had most trouble with while creating this cartoon was the mouth and the nose because I had to draw it by hand.
